Developmental Disability (DD) Waivers offer a range of services and support options for individuals with developmental disabilities. These services enable people with DD to live independently in their homes and communities, and actively participate in community life. DD Waivers also provide assistance with physical and behavioral health, employment, recreation, and education.
In Virginia, DD Waivers are administered by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS). To determine your eligibility for a DD Waiver, you can contact your local Community Services Board (CSB) or Behavioral Health Authority (BHA). Many states have long waitlists for DD Waivers, so it's advisable to request placement on the list as soon as possible.
A Support Coordinator may be assigned to help you navigate the available services and ensure you maximize your waiver benefits. The Support Coordinator can also assist in securing funding for services not covered by your waiver. Bittachon Care Services is one of many licensed providers ready to meet your needs. For additional information outside of the provided tutorial the following pages offer detailed explanations of the different types of Day Support Waiver Programs.
